They’re composed of the following people: Regina Buenaobra (Team Lead), Stéphane Lo Presti, Rubi Bayer, Joshua Davis, David Ortiz (European Communications Team Lead), Ramon Domke, Stéphanie Bourguet. They will also be helped by some of the Guild Wars 2 developers themselves!

There’s also a list of applications using the Guild Wars 2 API that you may find useful.

The Guild Wars 2 forums is a place where lots of players share suggestions, ideas, so you can pick up a good one there.

Feel free to start small, experiment, and ask players for feedback. Iterate your development for maximum rewards!

Not a developer, but want to have an impact? why not suggest an app idea on the app ideas page. Developers, this is a great place to see what your fellow players might want to see.

Registration and submission

In order to participate in the challenge you must sign up and submit your app by May 15th, 2015. Sign up early, as you'll get additional information and updates via email. You can find additional information about the submission process and Overwolf apps here.

Any submissions after May 15th, 2015 will be disqualified from the challenge. Read the full terms.

Development Process

You can craft great apps using your imagination and coding skills. Fuse these with the Overwolf and Guild Wars 2 API's, sprinkle some 3rd party API's on top, and you get great apps inside PC games. Remember, you must create an Overwolf app. To make things fun(ctional), use the web-based SDK, and if you're into C/C++, take a stab at the NPAPI plugin (you can even use it to easily port existing apps). Last but not least, you can also use any 3rd party web API.

Overwolf SDK

Use the Overwolf SDK (ODK) to get information from the game and present HTML and JS content inside PC games. Overwolf has an expansive list of API’s and we support all 3rd part web API’s out there. Learn more.

(we will only send relevant information about the contest you signed up for)

Q: So how much time do I have to develop and when will you announce the winners?

A: The development and submission phase of the competition starts on February 25th, 2015 and Ends on May 15th, 2015 at 11:59 PM PST. Winners will be announced on June 1st, 2015.

Q: What app should I develop?

A: Pretty much anything you can think of. Try asking around on Guild Wars 2 forums, or try your gamer friends - what would they like to see? You can also use our app suggestion page.

Q: How many apps may I submit?

A: No limit to the amount of apps you may submit, but make sure you're happy with your first app before rushing on.

Q: How can I promote my application to players?

A: You can post about it on the Guild Wars 2 forums, share it on this page of the Guild Wars 2 wiki, and even use social media - for example, using the #GW2APP hashtag on Twitter

Q: Do I have to use the Guild Wars 2 API for my app?

A: No, you don’t have to use the Guild Wars 2 API, it is completely optional. All you have to do is deliver an app for Guild Wars 2 and its community.

Q: So how exactly the 20 first submissions get a Plantronics RIG?

A: The 20 first qualifying apps will get a RIG headset (one per app). A qualifying app is a fully functional app that can be uploaded to the Overwolf store as-is (Overwolf will decide on the quality of apps). Apps submitted as part of this promotion don't have to be the final product and can be still updated before the contest ends.

Q: But I have sooo many questions! Where can I find the answers?

A: Our developer's forum has all the answers to your problems (most of them anyways).
